Steoung Mean Chey Field Trip

People live depend on the environment. Environment is very important to human being. However, on 17th July there was a team trip lead by Lorna, advisor of KYSD NGO, to Steoung Mean Chey where people known as landfill. People who participated this trip were Lorna, Loren, Mr. Chheng Sambo, Ith Sotheouth, Neoum Phally, Chan Sovananra, Noeun Dalen, and Mr. Muny from department of evironment. The purpose why they went in order to take photography and get some information about people who live there. Especially, they wanted to know the environment around there. The rubbishes was away with no good recycle. Lots of people live and earn money by picking up the trashes.

After their visiting, they had also a meeting by giving the feedback what they could see and got from the landfill. In the meeting, they raised up the problems related with the rubbishes that polluted the environment rapidly. Not only destroyed the environment but also demage the beauty of the city. Noticeable, why lots of exclusive contructions, buildings, houses were constructed around the landfill where people can smell badly. Moreover, they also found a key term to settle with this problems by encourage the media to broadcast people to understand what was being polluted. These could be a sign to alert the government to take more steps to controll this landfill by: write a note to let people know about the important of the environment, cause and effect of it in this area as the other places.

Other things, they wanted to created a block via internet or Newsletter to show what is happening at Steoung Mean Chey.

At the end of the meeting Lorna suggested the team to write a report then she will it to his father, a journalist in the USA, and inserted to the block.

Meeting on how each group (KYDP) faced

On the 14th July 2008, Khmer Youth and Social Development Program (KYSDP) team held a meeting at KYSD office.

The purpose in the meeting forcused on the controlling of each group works and activities, (KYSDP) how they face the difficulty, or the convinience and the result of their work for daily activities in July. Tong Ngy, facilitator, gave some more objective and motivation for each group to orientate

their work due to date including first peer teaching, TOT, and the real teaching in the 3rd, 4th, 5th in the lat of August.

In addition to these, all the group got some more common on how to prepare the lesson plan from Ms Kalyan represtative of KYSD in charge of Administrator and Finance.

The summing up all the activities for July

On the 31st July 2008 at KYSD from 8:30 to 10:30 there was a meeting for a summing up the activities for the late of July. As entire of the meeting they focuced on three topics:

1. The result in July
2. Obstacle and solution
3. Future plan in August

During this month, July, each group prepared the lesson, had field trip, and created block, recorded by Ms Ngoeum Phally. For the second thing, all the group faced many difficulties. As well, youth and journalism team faced how to deal with Newsletter which will be launched in the late September. In the same ways, other in connect with money to print out the document for their teaching.

In the meeting from all the groups suggested to have a certificate for their trainees at the end of the course; however, this is in a consideration. It was also a problem if we did not award the certifiacate, said Chheng Sambo, head of Journalism Team.

The third topic pointed out about the consequences of daily activity for August that each group teaching are going to do as well as other. For group of Life Objcetive and Orientation, Women and Society, Youth and the responsibility are going to have their first peer teaching on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from the 5th up to 7th of August. Another activity is the TOT which will be held during 11th up to 15th in August. As a thing a head all these three group are going to teach in the 3rd, 4th, 5th during this month. In a week there will be three groups are going to have their lesson presentation which will be held on Saturday evening, Sunday morning, and Sunday evening. Note: Course study morning from 7:30-11:oo, evening from 1:30-5:oo.

All in all the the meeting decided that at the end of the course all the trainees will be awarded a certificate.

Confrontation the disease

By mean of the living standard, hundred of families decid to walk around the landfill to pick up the trashes in order to exchang money. They are aware of the danger from the polluted wast which can harm their health still because of the poverty. They don't have knowledges and poor. They don't know what to do beside doing this work to earn a living. They said that they really don't want to do that because it doesn't make them fresh even the clothes can be seen.

Meeting on the 14th about the process of our during the first month

On the 14th July, 2008 at Department of Media and Communication there was a meeting under the present of Mr. Kang Tong Ngy, supervisor of Khmer Youth Social and Development Program, on the three topics:
How is the process of work for each group?
What will each group do in the next consequences?
What were the problem which each group face?

The first topic, each group mentioned about the future teaching what they need for their group. Chorn Sovannara, chairman of Life Orientation and Objective, raised that all his members did the same work especially finding the sources to support their work in writing the lesson plan.
As well, Mr. Seourn Vathana, a chairman of youth and responsibility progeram, expressed in the same way that he and his members were preparing the documents

The second topic, the urging to submit all the lesson from each group due to the 29th late July, 2008 and there will be another meeting on 31st July, 2008 at KYSD from 8 o'clock to 10:00. Anyway, all the group have to be ready to set the number of the students and the place for the their courses during this two months.

The third topic, ''each group plan to have community activity at the countryside but the problem was the travelling'' said all the group. Kang Tong Ngy, supervisor of Khmer Youth Social and Development Program, stated that he wanted all his members to have a field trip workshop at Kampong Tom was possible.

A meeting finished smoothly and Kang Tong Ngy also told all his member to work hard in order that the lesson can submit on time.
